Biography
Dallas Arrison Goedert was born January 3, 1995, in Britton, South Dakota, a small farming town in the northeastern corner of the state. His South Dakota roots and rural upbringing have remained central to his identity as one of the more working-class star players in the NFL. His path from small-town South Dakota to one of the most productive tight end careers in recent Philadelphia Eagles history is a classic underdog story.
Goedert attended Britton-Hecla High School in South Dakota, an extraordinarily small program, and then signed with South Dakota State — an FCS school — where he became one of the most productive tight ends in division history. His combination of size, reliable hands, and athletic upside drew national attention from NFL scouts despite his small-school pedigree.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Goedert in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, and he spent his early career as Zach Ertz's complement before taking over as the Eagles' starting tight end. He has since developed into one of the most productive two-way tight ends in the league, with his combination of reliable blocking and receiving production central to the Eagles' offensive identity.
Goedert has been a key contributor to two Super Bowl appearances (LVII and LIX, winning LIX), and his production across multiple quarterbacks — from Nick Foles and Carson Wentz to Jalen Hurts — has demonstrated unusual adaptability. His route craft, size, and willingness to stay engaged as a blocker have made him one of the most consistent tight ends of his generation.
His career résumé includes a Super Bowl LIX championship, Pro Bowl-caliber production across multiple seasons, and status as a cornerstone of Philadelphia's successful NFC-dominant run of the early-to-mid 2020s.
Off the field, Goedert has remained closely tied to his South Dakota roots and frequently returns to Britton for community events and youth football initiatives. He married longtime girlfriend Tori Lynn in 2021, and the couple has kept their personal life largely out of the public eye. He maintains endorsement partnerships with brands targeting Midwestern and working-class audiences, and his small-town background combined with his Super Bowl pedigree has made him one of the most relatable star players in the modern NFL.
