Vita Vea

Tevita Tuliakiono Tuipulotu Mosese Vea was born February 4, 1995, in Richmond, California, into a Tongan-American family deeply rooted in rugby and Pacific Islander football culture. His father played rugby and his extended family included multiple collegiate and professional athletes. Growing up in the Bay Area's Polynesian community shaped his distinctive physical style and his Tongan cultural identity.

Vea attended De La Salle High School in Concord, California — one of the most successful high school football programs in American history. He signed with Washington and spent three seasons with the Huskies, earning the Morris Trophy as the Pac-12's top offensive or defensive lineman in 2017 and cementing his status as a first-round NFL Draft prospect.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Vea 12th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He has spent his entire career in Tampa Bay and has become one of the most physically imposing interior defenders in the NFL, at 6'4" and 347 pounds. He was a key contributor to the Buccaneers' Super Bowl LV championship run alongside Tom Brady.

Vea has been selected to Pro Bowls and earned All-Pro consideration, with his combination of goal-line and short-yardage dominance, interior pass rush production from a nose tackle position, and his fullback-style touchdown catches in short-yardage offensive packages making him one of the most unique defensive weapons in the NFL.

His career résumé includes a Super Bowl LV championship, Pro Bowl selections, and status as one of the most physically dominant nose tackles of his generation. His ability to play both sides of the ball in goal-line situations — including catching touchdown passes — has made him one of the more memorable big men in modern NFL memory.
