Biography
Harrison M. Butker was born July 14, 1995, in Decatur, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb. He was raised in a devoutly Catholic family that has remained central to his public identity, and his upbringing shaped both his disciplined kicking routine and his later public embrace of traditional Catholic views. He has been open throughout his career about the role faith plays in his life.
Butker attended The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, a private Christian school, where he excelled as a kicker and soccer player. He signed with Georgia Tech and spent four seasons with the Yellow Jackets, breaking multiple program records and earning All-ACC honors as one of the most productive placekickers in conference history.
The Carolina Panthers selected Butker in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft before cutting him, after which the Kansas City Chiefs signed him off the practice squad. That signing has become one of the great waiver-wire pickups in NFL history — Butker has anchored the Chiefs' dynasty through multiple Super Bowl championship runs.
Butker is a three-time Super Bowl champion (LIV, LVII, LVIII) and has been selected to multiple Pro Bowls. He has repeatedly delivered in championship-level pressure situations, including game-tying and game-winning kicks in multiple Super Bowls. His consistent accuracy has established him as one of the most reliable kickers of his generation.
His career résumé includes three Super Bowl championships, multiple Pro Bowl selections, and status among the most productive and reliable kickers of the modern era. His clutch postseason production has been especially notable, with multiple game-defining kicks during the Chiefs' dynasty run.
Off the field, Butker has drawn significant national attention for his traditional Catholic views — including a 2024 commencement speech at Benedictine College that sparked widespread discussion — and his public advocacy for Catholic causes has become central to his off-field identity. He is married to his high school sweetheart Isabelle, and the couple has multiple children. He maintains endorsement partnerships with Adidas and other brands, though his traditionalist public profile has made his commercial positioning distinct from most of his NFL peers.
