Biography
Geno Smith's career is one of the great second acts in recent NFL memory. Drafted in the second round out of West Virginia in 2013, Smith opened his career as the Jets' starter but was eventually relegated to backup duty, spending years behind more prominent names in Seattle and elsewhere.
When Russell Wilson was traded from Seattle in 2022, Smith seized the opening and turned in a Comeback Player of the Year season, earning Pro Bowl honors while leading the Seahawks back to the playoffs. The move back to New York with the Jets returns him to where it all began, this time as a hardened veteran whose patience and preparation finally paid off in full.
