Biography
Kenneth Walker III was born November 10, 2000, in Montgomery, Alabama, and grew up in the heart of the Deep South's football culture. His family instilled early discipline that carried him through a successful youth and high school career, and his upbringing in a close-knit Alabama community shaped his work ethic and quiet, focused public demeanor.
Walker attended Arlington High School in Jackson, Tennessee, where he became one of the top running back recruits in the Southeast. He initially signed with Wake Forest, where he spent two seasons and posted impressive production in the ACC before transferring to Michigan State for his junior year. His single season in East Lansing became one of the best individual running back seasons in recent college football memory.
At Michigan State in 2021, Walker won the Doak Walker Award — the nation's top running back honor — and the Walter Camp Player of the Year award after rushing for nearly 1,700 yards and leading the Spartans to a New Year's Six bowl appearance. His combination of vision, acceleration, and contact balance established him as the consensus top running back prospect in the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Seattle Seahawks selected Walker 41st overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he immediately stepped into the starting role. He earned Pro Bowl honors as a rookie after rushing for more than 1,050 yards, becoming the centerpiece of a rebuilt Seahawks offense in the post-Russell Wilson era.
Walker has continued to develop into one of the AFC's most reliable featured backs, with his combination of one-cut decisiveness and long-speed finishing ability making him a consistent big-play threat. His transition to Kansas City following the 2024 season has paired him with Patrick Mahomes in a Chiefs offense looking to restore its running game identity.
Off the field, Walker has maintained a notably private and focused public profile, rarely seeking attention beyond on-field performance. He has supported community initiatives in Tennessee and Seattle, and he holds endorsement partnerships with Nike and emerging brand deals. Still in his mid-20s and entering what projects as his prime, Walker has positioned himself as one of the most complete featured backs in the NFL and a potential centerpiece of another Kansas City championship run.
