Biography
Marvin Daniel Harrison Jr. was born August 7, 2002, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the son of arguably the greatest wide receiver in Indianapolis Colts history. His father Marvin Harrison Sr. was a Pro Football Hall of Famer whose 1,102 catches and 14,580 receiving yards with the Colts established him among the all-time greats at his position. Growing up in that shadow — as the son of a Hall of Fame father — shaped Marvin Jr.'s public identity from childhood.
Harrison Jr. attended St. Joseph's Preparatory School in Philadelphia, a storied prep football program, where he starred as a wide receiver and high-level basketball player. He signed with Ohio State and became one of the most productive receivers in Buckeye history, winning the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver in 2023 and finishing as a unanimous All-American in consecutive seasons. He declined to participate in the 2024 NFL Combine, a deliberate choice that drew attention but did not affect his draft stock.
The Arizona Cardinals selected Harrison Jr. fourth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, making him the first wide receiver taken and the highest-drafted receiver since 2017. He arrived in Arizona as the centerpiece of the Cardinals' offensive rebuild around quarterback Kyler Murray and later subsequent starters.
Harrison Jr.'s rookie season produced promising but modest production, with 62 catches for 885 yards amid a team-wide offensive transition. His route craft, height, and family pedigree have made him one of the most scrutinized young receivers in the league, with expectations elevated by his Hall of Fame lineage.
His career résumé is still in its earliest chapter, but his combination of collegiate production, physical tools, and football intelligence has established him as one of the more intriguing young receivers of his draft class.
Off the field, Harrison Jr. has been deliberately private about his personal life and has focused on distinguishing his own career from his father's legacy. He has supported youth football initiatives in both his native Philadelphia and his adopted Arizona communities. His endorsement portfolio has been notably measured for a top-five pick, reflecting his selective approach to commercial partnerships. The family's football legacy and his own accomplishments at Ohio State have placed him among the most anticipated young receivers in the modern NFL.
