Rome Amari Odunze was born June 3, 2002, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and grew up in the Las Vegas area, a region that has produced relatively few NFL stars compared to traditional football hotbeds. His parents emphasized both athletic development and education, and Rome's emergence as a top receiver in a non-traditional football market required significant regional travel and exposure events during his high school years.

Odunze attended Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas — the most prominent high school football program in Nevada and a consistent producer of Division I talent — where he became a four-star recruit and state champion.
