Khalil Shakir

Khalil Shakir was born February 3, 2000, in Phoenix, Arizona, but his family's move to the Pacific Northwest shaped much of his football development. His upbringing was shaped by a close family environment, and his African-American and Middle Eastern heritage (his father is Palestinian-American) has informed his public identity as one of the more culturally distinctive players at his position.

Shakir attended Clovis North High School in Fresno, California, before signing with Boise State — a non-traditional college path for a future NFL starter. He spent four seasons with the Broncos and became one of the most productive receivers in Mountain West Conference history, earning multiple All-Conference selections before declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Buffalo Bills selected Shakir in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, pick 148 overall.
