Ladd McConkey

Ladd Ryan McConkey was born November 9, 2001, in Chatsworth, Georgia, a small town in the Appalachian foothills of the state. He was raised in a working-class environment that shaped his no-nonsense work ethic, and his small-town upbringing contrasted with many of the players he would eventually share fields with at Georgia.

McConkey attended North Murray High School in his hometown, where he was a relatively under-the-radar three-star recruit. He signed with Georgia and emerged as one of the most reliable slot receivers in SEC play, contributing to the Bulldogs' back-to-back College Football Playoff National Championship teams in 2021 and 2022. Although he was often overshadowed by teammates at skill positions, his production on third downs and in key moments made him a coaches' favorite.

The Los Angeles Chargers selected McConkey 34th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft — the first pick of the second round and one of the highest-drafted slot receivers in recent memory.
